Inman Park
Fulton County | 30307
Atlanta’s oldest subdivision, Inman Park was developed in the late 1880s by Joel Hurt, a civil engineer and real-estate developer. Hurt hoped to create a rural oasis connected to downtown via a streetcar line. The Trolley Barn, which still stands today, was constructed to facilitate businessmen commuting into downtown. The community is home to the Inman Park Festival which returns every April, offering live music, festival food, artist and vendor booths, and a tour of homes. Today, this neighborhood is considered one of the most desirable places to live.
The tree-canopied streets boast a mix of home styles including tiny mill town shotguns, historic Victorians, bungalows, and an ever-increasing array of apartments, townhomes, and condominiums. The community encompasses retail hubs such as Krog Street Market (formerly Tyler Perry’s studio), Little 5 Points, and a number of excellent eateries and retail around Elizabeth Street where it meets Lake / Austin Avenue and North Highland Avenue.
Adding to the appeal are a number of greenspaces and parks such as Springvale Park, a quaint greenspace that features a lake and is tucked down into a secluded valley between residential streets, plus Inman Park and the winding greenspaces that follow the Path to the Carter Center. The Atlanta BeltLine also runs through Inman Park, making it easy for residents to bike or walk to the Old Fourth Ward Skate Park and the BeltLine adjacent restaurants such as Kevin Rathburn’s Steak and Ladybird.
The Inman Park MARTA station and access to major thoroughfares such as Edgewood Avenue, Moreland Avenue, North Highland Avenue, Freedom Parkway, and Boulevard provide easy access for neighbors to get anywhere they need to go. New developments seem to pop up all the time in this vibrant community, and it remains one of the most popular destinations for neighbors and visitors alike.
